Established as Rossouw Medical Services, the company rebranded in 2001 and changed it’s name to URG-MED cc.

All UrgMed drivers are well trained and are certified to handle ‘Dangerous Goods’, Blood products and Human Tissue.

UrgMed plays a vital role in patients’ lives. 

We recognise the utmost importance of maintaining the cold chain in delivery, with speed and timing playing a crucial role in saving lives.

Emergency cases are taken care of 24 hours a day, within seconds of a call. 

Routine cases are punctually collected as per arranged schedules.

UrgMed has built up a proud record of excellence of a period of more than two decades in the industry, having received several awards.
UrgMed will continue to strive to attain the #1position as Medical Courier in the country. As a family owned business, we are intimately involved in all the affairs of UrgMed and take the interests of patients to heart. 

We currently employ a team of 6 people, with four specially equipped vehicles and the capacity to expand as services are required. We are small enough to care, but big enough to make a difference. From 1995 to 2007, hospitals and patients were served directly and our medical courier services were negotiated directly with them. 

Since 2007, when the system changed, we have been contracted by SANBS as specialist medical couriers between blood banks and private hospitals.

Transporting of the following

Blood and blood products between blood banks and hospitals for SANBS. We currently service UNITAS blood bank and all the relevant hospitals. 
PATHOLOGY SAMPLES
Organs and donor related services
Theatre instruments / Medical Equipment
Medication between hospitals and pharmacies
We have 6 set routine schedules serving 5 hospitals and 2 blood banks.
We also service day clinics on request.
Emergency cases are also served by the team of dedicated drivers.

OUR FLEET

We have a fleet of four specially equipped and licensed vehicles. One is always on standby. Servicing the Pretoria area.

Our team of dedicated shift drivers ensure 24 hour coverage.

UrgMed vehicles are all licensed to transport ‘Dangerous Goods’ (Human Tissue) – a compulsory requirement with Road Traffic Acts.
